Toyota Yaris is going to be introduced instead of Toyota Vios and this has unveiled the plan of Indus Motor Company (IMC) to replace the 1.3 Litre Toyota Corolla XLi & GLi. It was previously speculated that the Toyota Vios Sedan will be replacing the cars in mid-2018. But later due to the difficult economic conditions in Pakistan, Indus Motor Company (IMC), a Toyota manufacturing company decided to bring Toyota Yaris Sedan variant instead of Vios.
Toyota Yaris vs Toyota Vios
Yaris is little cheaper than Vios with the same dimensions, interior and suspension and often confused with Vios in certain markets. At first Yaris Sedan was introduced in Thailand with the name “Yaris Ativ” along with a small engine to comply with the Thailand Eco car regulations. In this particular market, Yaris is powered by a 1.2-litre Dual VVT-i 4-cylinder petrol engine accompanied by a super CVT-I transmission.
Whereas, in other markets, Yaris/Vios is powered by an engine of 1.5 litre. However, in Pakistan Yaris sedan is considered little lower than Toyota Corolla, so it may be available with 1.2-litre smaller engine or 1.3-litre engine, the same in Corolla sedan.
Daihatsu Bezza sedan will be tested by Indus Motor Company in Pakistan too. Moreover, this vehicle will be powered by a 1.0 litre or 1.3-litre engine. This small Sedan will be available in a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
According to the reports, this upgradation and introduction of new vehicles is to face the upcoming competition in near future. Sources say that in the mid-2020, the competition among the automobile industry in Pakistan and abroad will rise as Proton, Hyundai, Kia and Renault are going to launch some new vehicles in a range of small to medium segments.
Although it is too early to propose that this new Yaris Sedan is going to replace the Corolla variants or comes out to be a totally new model.
