Pakistani Captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed is highly concerned over pace bowler, Mohammad Amir;s form before the start of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.

Muhammad Amir, who hasn’t taken any wicket in 9 of his last 14 One-Day Internationals. In the recent series against Australia, Amir was dropped right after the first One-Day International in United Arab Emirates because of his form.

This performance has made the fast bowler’s inclusion in the World Cup uncertain. In an Interview with a local Television, Sarfaraz stated that when your regular strike bowler is not taking wickets due to which the concern is raised on the team leader’s head and hence, the valid concern.

Since the final of the Champions Trophy at The Oval in 2017, where he led the team to win the match with a spell of 3-16, he has gone wicket less in the next 9 out of 14 matches.

Amir, 26, has an average of 85 per wicket in the 14 games, and his strike rate and pace have also gone down in these matches.

After the fitness tests on 15th and 16th April at National Cricket Academy in Lahore, selectors will announce a 17 to 18 player squad for the upcoming England Tour starting from April 23.

A source said that, “In the upcoming five-match ODI series against England, the selectors will give it another chance and take a final look at the left arm-fast bowler pace, strike and wicket taking ability”

Sarfaraz was in agreement with the statement that not only his strike, but his pace has also declined. A source confirmed that the bowler’s comeback is uncertain as the head coach Mickey Arthur and bowling coach Azhar Mehmood lost their faith in him.

Azhar Mehmood always supported the left pacer, but with more options in the hand, he is having thoughts about Amir’s selection in the Cricket World Cup.

This criticism and backfires from his team and the coaches left amir staggering, when he was asked about his captain’s thoughts on his bowling performance at a press conference during the Australian series.

What do you think? Depending upon his performance in the recent matches, will he play the upcoming World Cup or not? What if he is selected and Sarfaraz doesn’t accept him?
