India has recently revoked the article 370 and canceled the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and this has created an unrest in the region and in Pakistan. India and Pakistan have a conflict over Kashmir for so long and the massacre of Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir at the hands of Indian Army continued for centuries.

Kashmir is in the state of lockdown as the Indian government has revoked their special status, which was part of constitution on August 5, 2019. Moreover, India has shifted tens of thousands troops to Indian Occupied Kashmir as a result of an unrest due to scraping an important part of the constitution.

Kashmir always has a support from Pakistan and India has shown a brutal and cruel behavior towards Jammu and Kashmir. A statement has been released from Pakistan after India deliberately scratched the Article 370 that Pakistan will counter this illegal act with every possible option in its way.

What is Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir?

Under Article 370, with effect from 1949, Kashmir was provided with a political independence and this part of constitution guaranteed this legislation. However, the Indian government has snatched this right from Kashmir and put them in a list of minorities.

  • Article 370 gave Kashmir a right to develop their own laws and they are exempted from the constitution of India.
  • This article gives them right to make laws excluding the areas of finance, communication, defence, and foreign affairs.
  • This article provides Kashmir with its own identity and flag.
  • Moreover, Article 370 states that they have their own constitution and outsiders are not allowed to attain property in this region. It means that residents of Jammu and Kashmir have their own citizenship and property ownership, which are different from the rest of the country.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, who has previously been the president of the BJP, announced this week that President has signed on a decision of abolishing the Article 370.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Foreign Minister of Pakistan said that India is playing a dangerous game and its consequence will seriously impact the stability and peace of the region.

Moreover, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has also been placed in the house arrest. She tweeted that this day is the darkest day in the history of Indian democracy.
