During a meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has decided that 10800 schools will be converted into solar power. It is a great step taken by a chief minister to provide electricity to the remote area schools where transmission lines are not even available. The solar electricity will be provided to these deprived areas soon and the targeted time to implement this plan is till December.
Solar Electricity For the Deprived Areas of Punjab
Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that solar energies will be provided to the remote areas of Rajanpur, Cholistan, Thal and Dera Ghazi Khan. He also told the sources that this off-grid solution has been introduced by government and will be implemented soon to facilitate these far-flung areas.
Government Institutions To Get Solar Power:
The energy Department has been told to present a report in this regard. It has been decided that University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore will be transferred to solar power at the first phase of the plan. Government, universities will be converted to solar power soon, according to the plan.
Buzdar also explained the long term plan to convert the health care units on to solar power along with the water supply schemes. Moreover, he has directed the Chief Minister Task Force to take strict legal action against the electricity theft.

Sardar Usman Buzdar said that Punjab has a great potential to generate large amounts of solar energy. He also said that powering the schools with the help of solar electricity is a great initiative by the government and it should be proceeded further in the future.
When solar panels will be installed in 10800 schools, they will be facilitated with an un-interrupted supply of electricity. Chief Minister of Punjab said that around three thousand schools in Punjab has been transferred to solar power. Moreover, he has also added that 32000 cases has been filed against the power pilferers in these nine months of government.
A campaign was started against the electricity theft in Punjab and many citizens has been arrested in this regard.
