The Minister for Pakistan Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed made a special announcement, on Tuesday May 28th, 2019. He announced a fifty percent discount in train fares on the first day of eid. This discount is only valid on Pakistan railway tickets booked in advance, both by online railway booking or from the reservation offices.
In his statement the Minister for railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said,
“This a special gift for passengers on Eid day and I also thank the travelers who will use Pakistan Railways for travelling,”
As per the notification issued from the railway headquarters Lahore, the 50 percent discount on its first day is applicable to all classes and trains.
The Pakistan Railways had also announced to run five special eid trains across the country, on the festive occasion of eid. Many people travel to their native villages and cities, to spend the auspicious event with their loved ones.
To facilitate the passenger this year, on the directives of the minister for railway Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the CEO Mohammad Aftab Akber issued orders to run five special trains for the commuters on the occasion of EId-UL-fiter 2019.
The passengers can book the train tickets via online railway booking and registration centers from today, May 29th 2019.
The schedule for the five special trains is as follows,
The first special train for eid will leave from Karachi Cantt on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019, in 1045 hours from Peshawar.
The Second eid train too will commence its journey from Quetta in 1130 in Rawalpindi in June 2nd,2019.
Third train will depart from Karachi on Monday, June 3rd, at 1100 hours for Lahore.
While the fourth and fifth trains will start their journey on June 8th. The fourth eid train will run from Rawalpindi in Quetta at 0800 hours while the fifth train will leave from Lahore for Karachi Cantt at 1800 hours.
The Pakistan Railway spokesman said, To generate sales, reach the passengers and to inform the commuters about the discounts and special trains, Pakistan railway has launched an advertisement campaign.
He further added that to keep the security situations under control and avoid incidents, additional police personnel are deployed on the stations.
