ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: South Africa is Hoping Good

In the recent events of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, South Africa defeats Sri Lanka by 87 runs in a warm-up match on Friday, and this has their confidence boosted for the upcoming tournament. But, this victory has raised some questions in the selections.

In the Friday warm-up match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, South African’s Andile Phehlukwayo assisted the total target of 338 in 50 overs, while Chris Morris scored 26 and Dwaine Pretorious scored 25 unbeaten.

But in the bowling department, Phehlukwayo took four wickets and Pretorious took just one.

Although, both of them put up a good show, but it has become a quite difficult task for the selection team to go with all of them in the tournament.

Skipper Faf Du Plessis said that they cannot feature at the same time in the tournament. Hence, Proteas will have to make some tough calls depending upon his performance.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will start from 30th May.

There is definitely not space for three of them, but Dale Steyn’s fitness is progressing.

“So, if he doesn’t progress the way that he wants to then two all-rounders come into the equation. If our fast bowlers are all fit, we love that diversity in our attack,” ICC quoted Du Plessis as saying.

Du Plessis said in a statement that, “There is quite good competition and depth within the squad”

On the other hand, Du Plessis said while focusing on the bowling end that which team gets a better hand at the bowling end will win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

“I think it’s going to be a high-scoring tournament, I think the team that bowls really well will win this tournament”

After South Africa defeats Africa Sri Lanka, they will now face West Indies in the second warm-up match on 26th May, before heading for the World Cup, where they will face the English team in the opening Match of the World Cup.
