Data Darbar Blast: Five Dead, and Several Injured

Up till now, at least five people were killed and more than 34 injured in an explosion near Data Darbar Lahore. The Data Darbar Blast occurred while targeting a police vehicle.

According to the initial reports by the Police, the Blast occurred near the Gate No. 2 of the Data Darbar.

The Blast had a high impact on the nearest nearby vehicles and buildings and shattered them. Several local channels reported that the people lay down for cover to save themselves from the impact of the blasts.

There is not confirmation of the nature of the attack, but there is a suspicion in the corners that it was a suicide attack.

DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmed Khan confirmed that three of the Elite Security Force officials were also killed in the blast.

A civilian and a security guard were also found dead during the blast.

Superintendent Police Syed Ghazanfar Shah told the media that eight of the people who were severely injured are shifted to Mayo Hospital and are said to be in critical condition.

An emergency has been imposed on the hospital where Punjab Health Secretary Saqib Zafar is also present.

A rescue operation was conducted in the area for investigation before its cordoning. The Counter Terrorism Department and the Forensic officials are collecting the evidences at the site of attack for investigation purposes.

All security officials, elite forces and Police have been directed to stay alert during the month of Ramzan.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has condemned and ordered inquiry of the Data Darbar Blast, and summoned reports from the Inspector General, Punjab and the additional chief secretary of interior.

CM Usman Buzdar Orders Inquiry on the Incident

Usman Buzdar ordered a high level meeting at the Punjab Safe City Headquarters and, reportedly, cancelled his upcoming visits to Bhakkar, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura.

Buzdar offered condolences to the families of the victims and ordered to provide better treatment to the injured of the Data Darbar Blast.
