When a certain population of US was assessed. It was estimated that around 29 million people of age above 40 are taking Aspirin dosage without any heart disease. And about 6.6 million of the people are doing this without any recommendation from the doctor.
A study has revealed that around 10 million people over the age of 70 are taking aspirin, even if they does not have any heart disease problems.
An author and a physician, Colin O’Brien from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston said that “Many patients are confused about this theory.”
O’Brien also said that they are hopeful that patients will question their doctors about the use of aspirin in regular basis and they will raise this concern.

However, it must be notified that aspirin intake is still recommended by doctors for those who have met with heart attack. The reason is its characteristic of thinning the blood. Last year, there were many studies undertaken who challenged this dogma of thinning blood. When longest tests to aspirin carried out on people with low and moderate risk of heart attack, only a marginal benefit was witnessed.
