The opening ceremony of ICC 2019 world cup, took place on the Mall in front of Buckingham palace, on May 29th. The ceremony was deemed opening party and was more like a casual and colorful street festival. Supporters of ICC world cup teams from all over the world joined the party.
The Captains of all ICC world cup teams met Elizabeth II, The Britsh Monarch and the duke of Sussex, at the royal palace.

Former England all rounder, Andrew Flintoff hosted the opening party of 2019 world cup, he was accompanied by India’s Shibhani Dandekar. They started off the event by introducing all 10 captains of participating ICC world cup teams. An engaging 60 second challenge followed the introductions. In the challenge England secured first by scoring 74, defeating their arch enemies Australia by 4 runs.
Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai and Pakistan’s former captain Azhar Ali represented Pakistan in the 60 second challenge, they finished 7th.
In her statement, Malala said,”We now see more and more women take part in cricket”. She added, “I have been a big fan of cricket since my childhood. I think this sport connects different people from different cultures. We’re all here to celebrate cricket,” she also mentioned that Pakistan did better than India in the 60 second challenge, the Indian team scored 19 and finished last.
The official World Cup 2019 song “Stand By”, sung by LORYN, was also played in the opening party.
